Screen for Diptyque

An ode to nature for Diptyque in London

The story of Diptyque is a creative adventure of three friends inspired by nature, travel, and art. Desmond Knox-Leet is a painter who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. Christiane Montadre-Gautrot was an interior designer, trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs. Yves Coueslant worked in decoration and theater, after attending the École du Louvre.

Today, Diptyque continues their legacy and revisits certain boutiques by creating aesthetic apartments. The Diptyque House in London on New Bond Street offers each visitor a break rich in beauty, poetry, and imagination. They faithfully reflect the curious spirit shared by the three founders of Diptyque.

For this screen, Marie Berthouloux wanted to work with a pictorial naturalism. She brought various branches and leaves to the studio. The composition was created gradually, like a walk in the forest.
The trees are tall, they size us up. The leather leaves, cannetille, and beads are touches of light like the sun shining through the branches or morning dew. The painting and embroidery unfold on this screen like a fresco, somewhere between abstraction and figurative art. The senses are awakened and an olfactory landscape comes to life.
